DJI Inspire 1 Drone
Modelled in Lightwave3D, rendered in Octane and lit with HDRI Light Studio.
I've been really interested in all the new technologies that are pushing quadcopters lately and when I saw the design of the Inspire 1, it had to be modelled. Being such a mix between hard surface and organic curves,it turned out to be more of a challenge than I anticipated with trying to get all the parts to accurately fit together.
Painstakingly, I manage to rig arms of the drone to move the mechanisms inside accordingly. In the end I managed to create a mix between IK and whatever-the-hell Lightwave decided was not going to crash the program.
On a nice day I went out and filmed this very stock-footage looking sequence which was then brought into After Effects to motion track. After a few failed attempts and hours trying to replicate the lighting, this is the result I got...
